Maharashtra State Biodiversity Board (MSBB) is organising a Photography Competition on the eve of The theme of the competition is “Memorable Moments in the Forests of Maharashtra”. The different categories for the photography competition are:

a) WLBD: Wild biodiversity of Maharashtra (Animals/Plants)
b) WNPL: Wild Natural Pristine Landscapes in Maharashtra
c) THBD: Threatened / Endangered Wild Species of Maharashtra (Animal/Plants)

This competition is open for Amateur Photographers in Maharashtra. The closing date for submitting the application form with photographs is 19th May 2014. The prizes are as under for each category

First prize : Rs. 15,000/- and Certificate
Second Prize : Rs. 10,000/- and Certificate
Third Prize : Rs. 5,000/- and Certificate
Consolation Prizes : Rs. 3,000/- and Certificate
Special Appreciation : Appreciation Certificate

The final result of competition & prize distribution programme would be communicated separately. All the entries should be sent to Dr. Erach Bharucha, Chairman, Maharashtra State Biodiversity Board & Director, Institute of Environment Education and Research, Bharati Vidyapeeth Deemed University, Katraj– Dhanakawadi, Pune 411043.

The rules and regulation for this competition will be as follows :
1) The competition is for the Amate Photographers only.
2) Each participant can send maximum three entries in each category. All photographs must be taken by the participant and should be original work. Only original photographs to be sent.
3) Every Photograph should have appropriate caption with maximum up to 10 words.
4) Minimum 10 entries must be there for competition in each category.
5) Photograph must be sent in printed format, strictly in 10” x 12” size and a soft copy should be sent to MSBB either by e-mail or on CD/DVD. For the valid entry both forms of photos must reach to MSBB Pune office before 19th May 2014.
6) Kindly fill up the application form while submitting photographs to MSBB.
7) All photographs must be taken in Maharashtra only. Write applicant’s name, filename of softcopy on backside of photograph.
8) There is no entry fee for this competition.
9) MSBB is keeping all the rights for publication of all these photographs on their website and in other publications as and when required.
10) A panel of experts will make the final decision, and it will be final.
11) Digital photographs must meet the following technical specifications :
a. Images should be saved at a suggested 10” x 12” size.
b. Images must be saved as .jpg files at the high resolution.
c. The file name/label must carry the name of the participant followed by category name and photo name (e.g. RahulMungikar-WLBD-Tiger.jpg)
d. Digitally altered images as well mounted or framed images will not be acceptable.
12) Obscene, provocative, or otherwise objectionable contents will lead to disqualification, and such determination is solely at the discretion of Sponsor.
