Science Quiz and Poster Presentation Competitions :
On February 28, 1928, the great Indian Physicist Sir Chandrasekhar Venkata Raman announced the discovery of the Raman Effect. The epoch-making discovery brought for him the first Nobel Prize for the country in the year 1930. To commemorate and honour this event always in future, 28th of February was asked to the Indian Government to designate as a National Science Day in India by the National Council for Science and Technology Communication in the year 1986.
Objective :
The objective of celebration is to create enthusiasm and to popularize science (and technology interaction) to strengthen scientific temper among people
Events :
** Science Quiz Competition
** Scientific Poster Presentation Competition
** Guest Lectures by renowned speakers
** Paper Presentation/Debate/Scientific Play by the students
Registration Procedure :
Students are required to submit their registration form for Quiz and Poster Competitions (meant for SLIET students only) to Registration Committee Coordinator [Dr. Prabhdeep Kaur, AP Physics] or Co-coordinator [Mr. Vinod Singh, Technician (Maths)Adhoc].
Students may consult Registration Committee Coordinator or Co-coordinator for procedure and registration for attending program on 28th Feb. 2014.
Students interested for paper presentation/debate on scientific theme (science education, policy, ethics etc.) may approach Convener

Please follow detailed instructions and guidelines :
1) Separate registration is required for each activity.
2) Award and Certificate will be issued to top three participants in each category and activity.
3) a) Certificate of Merit will be issued to top 20 percent or top 40 students, whichever is less, in each category of Quiz.
b) Primary Selection for Posters will be done before final presentation in case the entries are more than 40 in each category. Maximum 40 entries for each category will be accepted for final display. Certificate of Merit will be issued to top 25% or maximum 10 in each category. Scientific papers, design of instruments etc. do not fall under this category.
4) At the time of participation student has to bring valid proof of identity.
Syllabus for Science Quiz :
Current science awareness, basic scientific principles, scientific invention and discovery, science and technology interaction, basic mathematics and mathematical reasoning etc. Wrong answer will attract negative marking.
Theme for Poster Presentation :
science and technology interaction, science and environment, science and education, science in media, science and human interaction, science and society, scientific thoughts (cartoons etc.). One should draw some meaningful inference from the poster.
7) Decision of selection committee for sr. no. 2&3 will be final.
