I. Postgraduate Diploma in Science Education(PGDSE) :
In order to provide opportunities to teachers and others to receive training in science education, this Centre is offering a post-graduate diploma programme in science education (PGDSE). Aspects covered in the programme are : courses related to subject content, laboratory experiments, education technology and research experience. The training will be imparted through projects and formal courses. The programme is for two semesters beginning 1 August every year. A stipend of Rs. 10,000/- per month will be paid to those selected for the programme. Boarding and lodging will be available.
Applications are invited from teachers with B.Sc./M.Sc. with or without B.Ed. as well as from individuals who have B.Sc./M.Sc. qualification and interested in science education. In special cases, teachers working in the vicinity of Bangalore may be allowed to the PGDSE programme and in such cases; the course duration will be four semesters with a stipend of Rs. 6,000/- per month.
Mere applying will not merit selection for the interview or the Diploma programme. The candidates who have an overall excellent academic record which also includes being recipients of scholarships/meritorious awards will be considered for interview. Subject to the performance in the interview and the academic records, the candidate may be considered for admission to the programme.
Fellowships: Rs 10,000 per month for one year (if registered as a Full time student)
Rs 6 000 per month for two year (if teachers are registered as Part time students)
Fees: Rs 3085 (to be paid as a DD at the time of admission by students registered on a Full time basis)
Rs 3,020 to be paid in the form of DD at the time of admission and Rs 2000 to be paid in the form of DD in the 2nd year ( applicable to teachers registered on a Part-time basis)
Travel Allowance(TA): IIIrd AC/equivalent will be reimbursed to students registered on a Full time basis only.
Teachers registered on Part time basis are not eligible to claim TA.
II. Postgraduate Diploma in Materials Science(PGDMS) :
Postgraduate Diploma in Materials Science (PGDMS) is a two semester (one year) programme and is meant for students who have completed their M.Sc. Teachers from colleges and universities with M.Sc. as the basic qualification can also apply. The training will be imparted through projects and formal courses. Stipend will be paid as per norms. Boarding and lodging will be available. A Postgraduate Diploma will be awarded on successful completion of this programme. Only limited number of candidates will be selected based on the recommendation of a selection committee.
Mere applying will not merit selection for interview or to the Diploma programme. The candidates who have an excellent academic record which also includes being recipients of scholarships/ meritorious academic awards will be considered for interview. Subject to the performance in the interview and on the basis of the academic records, the candidate may be considered for admission to the Diploma programme.
