Nirma University is a statutory University recognized by the UGC under section 2(f) and the Institute of Science, one of the constituent institutions of the Nirma University, invites applications for admission to its M.Sc. Programmes in
Biotechnology
Biochemistry and
Microbiology.
Eligibility and Admission Criteria : A student seeking admission to any of the above mentioned Programmes must fulfill the following criteria:
1 The candidates should have Bachelors degree under 10+2+3/4/5, pattern of education in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Botany, Zoology, Microbiology, Life Sciences, Environmental Sciences, Bio-technology, Agricultural, Veterinary, Fishery & Dairy Sciences, Pharmacy, Medicine (MBBS), BDS, Bioinformatics, Genetics, Medical Laboratory Technology, BHMS, BAMS, B. Tech./B.E. Biotechnology, Physiotherapy and Bio-medical Engineering with at least 50% marks as aggregate of all the semester / years.
2 Candidates who have appeared for the final semester of qualifying examination can also apply. In such case, the candidates are required to submit the results as soon as the results are available either by fax or by email (scanned image).
3 If the applicant has passed the qualifying examination from the University other than Nirma University, he/she will be required to obtain Eligibility Certificate from Nirma University. The arrangement for obtaining the same will be made on the spot on payment of Rs.500/- at the time of admission.
Selection Procedure :
Admission will be granted purely based on merit obtained in the Entrance Test to be conducted by the Nirma University. Appearance in the Entrance Examination does not guarantee candidates for admission in the courses. The test will be based on the undergraduate syllabus of Chemistry and Life Sciences. There will be 100 objective type questions of 100 marks. The duration of the test is 1 and ½ hours. There will be no negative marking.
In case of equal score in the entrance test, the aggregate marks of the qualifying examination will be considered for determining the merit. In case of “Result Awaited” category, aggregate marks of all the previous years / semesters will be taken into consideration for determining the rank. Academic Regulations and other details for M. The application processing fee: Rs. 1000/- (One Thousand) is required to be paid along with the submission of filled-in Application form. The fees may be paid through Demand Draft drawn in favour of “INSTITUTE OF SCIENCE, NIRMA UNIVERSITY” payable at Ahmedabad (Applicant should write his/her complete name on the backside of the Demand Draft) or in cash ( in case of submission of application form in person)
Admit Card : The admit card for the entrance test will be mailed to you. In case of non receipt of admit card on or before 7th June, 2014, kindly contact the Admission Coordinator at the below mentioned address.
How to Apply : Duly filled in application form in all respect should be received latest by the last date June 10th 2014 in a sealed envelope marked as “M. Sc. ADMISSIONS 2014″ on the left hand side top corner of the envelope. The form can be submitted in person / by registered post / by speed post / by courier to the below mentioned address. The institute will accept application forms on all working days between 09:00 am to 3:30 pm and on Saturdays between 09:00 am to 12:30 pm.

Important Notes :
1. The first merit list of applicants to be called for interview will be displayed on the website on June 18th 2014.
2. The candidates are required to produce the copy of the admit card at the time of examination
3. All the applicants, whose names are displayed in the first merit list on the website (June 18th 2014) are required to report for counseling on June 23rd 2014. No separate intimation will be conveyed for counseling.
4. Appearing for counseling does not guarantee admission.
5. The applicants will be given admission on the day of counseling based on the merit subject to verification of testimonials and other related documents.
