H1B Visa Interview Appointment :
All applicants are processed as efficiently as possible and the U.S. Embassy or Consulate strives to keep the wait time for appointments as short as possible. That said, the earlier you book your appointment, the more likely you are to be able to get the interview date and time you want.
Nonimmigrant visa applicants are encouraged to apply at least three months in advance of the intended date of travel. Remember- Apply early!

Time Required to Process an Application :
Most administrative processing is resolved within 60 days of the visa interview. When administrative processing is required, the timing will vary based on individual circumstances of each case. Visa applicants are reminded to apply early for their visa, well in advance of the anticipated travel date.

It should be noted that the “Wait Times for a Nonimmigrant Visa to be processed” information by country does not include time required for administrative processing.

Photos and Fingerprints
Visa applicants are fingerprinted by the U.S. Embassy or Consulate as part of the visa interview. During the visa application process, at the OFC, an ink-free, digital fingerprint scan will be quickly taken. There are some applicants whose fingerprints are not required, including:
** Applicants traveling on official government business, except for A-3 and G-5 applicants
** Applicants under the age of 14 or over the age of 79
Your visa application photo must meet certain criteria regarding size and content. Submitting photos that do not meet these criteria can delay the visa application process. Digital photos uploaded with your Form DS-160 must have been taken within the last six months, and must meet

Head Size :
Your head height, measured from the top of your head, including the hair, to the bottom of your chin, must be between 50% and 70% of the photo’s total height. Your eye height, measured from the bottom of the photo to the level of your eyes, should be between 55% and 70% – or roughly 2/3 – of the photo’s height.
Photo Dimensions :
Your photo must be square-shaped, meaning the photo’s height must be the same as its width. The minimum dimensions for your photo are 600 pixels x 600 pixels (height x width). The maximum dimensions are 1200 pixels x 1200 pixels (height x width).

Supporting Documents for an interview :
To schedule your OFC appointment a nonimmigrant visa appointment, you must have the following information and documents available:
** A passport valid for travel to the United States with a validity date at least six months beyond your intended period of stay in the United States (unless country-specific agreements provide exemptions). If more than one person is included in your passport, each person desiring a visa must submit an application.
** Your visa application (MRV) fee payment receipt
** Your DS-160 confirmation page
** Your e-mail address
** If applicable, required documents based on visa class (such as a petition approval for petition-based visas; more information about visa types and information about each can be found here).

  • My case for immigrant Visa has fallen in for Administrative Process for the last Eleven Months. I am alone waiting whereas My wife and children are in States. What should I do?
