Online Registration for Higher Education Scholarship (2013-14)
The Government of Kerala has introduced various scholarships awarded to meritorious students of outstanding performance in the education sector as well as to the students of socially and economically backward categories. The Higher Education Department of Government of Kerala is entrusted with the responsibility of selection and disbursement of various scholarships to Higher Secondary, under Graduate and Post Graduate Streams.

This project envisages the development and implementation of a web-enabled scholarship management system to facilitate the Directorate of Collegiate education for an efficient, foolproof system for the selection of the students and also do the disbursements. The System also facilitates the students, various educational institutions and the Scholarship Department to update and monitor the selection and disbursement process

SCOPE AND EXTENT OF THE SCHOLARSHIP :
There Council intends to constitute two types of scholarships : General Scholarships and Endowment Scholarships. During the year 2013-14, 1000 general scholarships would be awarded to regular students pursuing the study of Sciences, Social Sciences, Business Studies and Humanities through full time aided courses at the undergraduate and post graduate levels in Government/Aided Colleges and Departments/Institutions under the Universities in Kerala. The scholarships may be extended subsequently, including other disciplines and students pursuing studies outside the State, depending on the funds made available through endowments.

The scholarships available in 2013-14 will be distributed among different universities in the State. The number of scholarships set apart for each university would be decided on the basis of the student strength in first degree aided courses in Sciences / Humanities / Social Sciences/ Business Studies in the Govt./Aided colleges/ Departments under each University, calculated on the basis of sanctioned strength of each stream, in all Government/Aided Arts & Science colleges and University Departments in the previous year.

The Scholarships would be given for a 5-year period starting with first-degree and ending with final year post graduate education.The quantum of annual scholarship would be substantially high to attract and retain talented students in the academic stream for at least five years. The annual scholarship given to a student would be increased incrementally from Rs.12000 to Rs.60000 as he/she moves from the first year degree course to the final year postgraduate course

Where the beneficiary is a physically challenged person, the scholarship amount would be 25% more than the usual amount to take care of his/her special needs . Only persons with 40% disability or more would be considered as physically challenged for the purpose of the award of the scholarship.

No student will be awarded scholarship unless he/she fulfills the minimum criteria for the award of scholarship. The required minimum percentage of marks for scholarships would be as follows:
o ST Pass
o SC – For science subjects 45%
o SC – All other subjects 40%
o Gen. Category – Science 50%
o Gen. Category – Others 45%

Scholarships under this scheme will not be awarded to a student who receives any scholarship / stipend other than fee concession for a course of study. However, students belonging to SC/ST category will be eligible for scholarship in addition to the lump sum grant given by the Scheduled Caste and the Scheduled Tribe Development Departments.

  1. I have completed my degree and I got this scholarship 3 times. Now I am doing my pg as distance education. Can I do renewal for this scholarship?

    1. Now I completed degree. I got higher education scholarship in first year. Then I renewed twice with my friends. But we did not get it. We six students from MES MAMPAD COLLEGE didn’t get it. What can we we do?

    1. You can renew the HE scholarship registration for the years 2011-12 and 2012-13 in the official website.

  6. I am a second year degree student in Christ college IJK. I have received the first year scholarship amount. Our first year result has not yet published. What is the last date to apply?

    1. The last date for submission of the HE Scholarship 2013-14 application print out and other documents is extended till 10/01/2014 and for online verification and approval till 17/01/2014.

  7. I have did my HSC in state board of Tamilnadu. What I have to fill the first column (board of examination) of the scholarship application form?

  8. What are SSLC and non-SSLC streams? I completed my 10th and 12th in CBSE syllabus. My certificates do not contain the information that i’m an Indian. So should I submit nativity certificate? Which is the last date for submitting application by post and what is the address?

    1. Tamil Nadu Board of Secondary Education, established in 1910, is under the purview of the Department of Education, Government of Tamil Nadu, India. Up to and ending at the secondary (class 10) level, the following streams of education are offered: the SSLC (Secondary School Leaving Certificate) stream, the Anglo-Indian stream, the Oriental School Leaving Certificate (OSLC) stream and the Matriculation stream. And for higher secondary (classes 11 and 12) there is single unified stream leading to the award of the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC).

    1. I do not think so you are required to upload any documents while registering. But the details required are Bank Details,Details of Qualifying Examination,Details of Programme & Institution the applicant is currently studying and Scholarship Details.
      Please use your SSLC/ 10th standard details in the first paragraph of registration
