Post-Matric Scholarship to OBC/Minority Students :
This is a continuing programme to award scholarship to OBC students who are studying both inside and outside the State. This is a 100% Central share scheme.GOI sanctioned Rs.200.70 lakhs in two installments for the scheme during 2006-07 targeting 16800 students. During 2007-08 an amt. of Rs. 100.70 lakhs was expended to benefit 8908 students . OBC Students whose annual family income is below Rs.44,500/- can apply for the Scholarship. An amount of Rs.125.08 lakhs was expended for awarding scholarship to 11440 OBC students during 2008-09.An amount of Rs. 200.00 lakhs is proposed during 2009-10.

Providing Scholarship to OBC students under Post-Matric Scholarship(100% Central share) continued benefiting 20348 OBC students had benefited during the first 2(two) years of 11th Plan Target for 2009-10 is to benefit 11760 OBC students.

Objective:
The objective of the scheme is to award scholarships to meritorious students belonging to economically weaker sections of minority community so as to provide them better opportunities for higher education, increase their rate of attainment in higher education and enhance their employability.

Post-matric scholarship scheme for minority communities provides the scholarship to students from class XI to Ph.D (XI, XII, Technical/Vocational, Under Graduate, Post Graduate, M.Phil & Ph.D) studying in Government/ recognised private schools/ colleges/ universities/ institutes in India including technical/ vocational courses in Industrial Training Institutes/ Industrial Training Centers and the courses not covered under merit-cum-means based scholarship scheme for minority communities. This scholarship is not available for LLB, MBA, MCA, BE and MBBS. (See website :-www.minorityaffairs.gov.in)

Eligibility For Post-Matric Scholarship :
Students belonging to Muslim/ Christian/ Sikh/ Buddhist/ Parsi, who have secured not less than 50% marks in previous final examination and the annual income of his/her parents/ guardians from all sources not exceeding Rs. 2 lakhs, can apply for the post-matric scholarship in the prescribed application to the Department dealing with minority welfare of his/her State/UT, on advertisement published by the State Government/ Union Territory Administration concerned.

Pre-Matric Scholarship to OBC/Minority Students :
This is a 50 :50 sharing scheme between Central and state Government. An amount of Rs.75.00 lakhs (State Share) and Central Share of Rs. 65.37 lakhs were released for the year 2006-07 and the same was utilized to benefit 39,945 OBC students. An amount of Rs.100.00 lakhs state share and Rs.16.64 lakhs was utilized during 2007-08. Proposal for the remaining Rs.83.36 lakhs Central share had already been sent to the concerned Central Ministry. An amount of Rs. 75.00 lakhs as State Share and Rs. 125.00 lakhs as Central Share was expended during 2008-09 benefiting 57325 OBC students. An amount of Rs.125.00 lakhs as central share and Rs. 107 .00 lakhs as State share are proposed for 2009-2010.

Providing Scholarship to OBC students under Pre-Matric Scholarship(50 :50)- State share :Central share) continued benefiting 113464 OBC students Target for 2009-10 is to benefit 55000 OBC students. Post-Matric Scholarship to Minority Students under Ministry of MoMA (100% central share)started implementing in the state . 267 Muslims students and 773 Christian students were benefited so far. Target for 2009-10 is to benefit 4287 Minority students.

Students under Ministry of MoMA (75 :25-Ccentral share: State share)started implementing in the state . 400 Muslim and 1560 Christian students were benefited so far. Target for 2009-10 is to benefit 12740 Minority students.

Objective:

The objective of the scheme is to encourage parents from minority communities to send their school going children to school, lighten their financial burden on school education and sustain their efforts to support their children to complete school education.

Pre-matric scholarship scheme for minority communities provides the scholarship to students from class I to X studying in Government/ recognised private schools/ institutes in India. (See website :-www.minorityaffairs.gov.in)

Eligibility For Pre-Matric Scholarship :
Students belonging to Muslim/ Christian/ Sikh/ Buddhist/ Parsi who has secured not less than 50% marks in previous final examination and the annual income of his/her parents/ guardians from all sources not exceeding Rs. 1 lakh, can apply for the pre-matric scholarship in the prescribed application to the Department dealing with minority welfare of his/her State/UT, on advertisement published by the State Government/ Union Territory Administration concerned.

Merit cum Means based Scholarship :
Merit cum Means based Scholarship to Minority Students undergoing Professional and Technical course in Graduate and Post-Graduate courses under Ministry of MoMA (100%-Central share)started implementing in the state . 20 Muslims and 78 Christians students had benefited so far. Target for 2009-10 is to benefit 98 Minority students.

Eligibility Criteria :
Students belonging to minority communities can apply for this scheme for studies in India only to the State/UT to which they belong through this institute/college.

The annual income of the student/parent or guardian of student should not exceed Rs.2.50 lakh from all sources and the student also should have secured at least 50% marks in his/her last examination

How to apply for merit-cum means scholarship?
Students may contact the office dealing with the scholarships scheme in State/UT. For more details please contact Principal Secretary/Secretary of your States/UTs. List is in Ministry’s website www.minorityaffairs.gov.in

Advertisement would be published by the State Government/UT Administration every year inviting applications, giving the last date for receiving application forms, and the offices where the application forms are to be submitted. This advertisement should normally come out in the month of April every year. However, students are advised to keep touch of advertisement in the following months too in case it is issued after April.
