PRIME MINISTER’S EMPLOYMENT GENERATION PROGRAMME (PMEGP)
Government of India has approved the introduction of a new credit linked subsidy programme called Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) by merging the two schemes that were in operation till 31.03.2008 namely Prime Minister’s Rojgar Yojana (PMRY) and Rural Employment Generation Programme (REGP) for generation of employment opportunities through establishment of micro enterprises in rural as well as urban areas. PMEGP will be a central sector scheme to be administered by the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MoMSME).

Objectives :
(i) To generate employment opportunities in rural as well as urban areas of the country through setting up of new self-employment ventures/projects/micro enterprises.

(ii) To bring together widely dispersed traditional artisans/ rural and urban unemployed youth and give them self-employment opportunities to the extent possible, at their place.

(iii) To provide continuous and sustainable employment to a large segment of traditional and prospective artisans and rural and urban unemployed youth in the country, so as to help arrest migration of rural youth to urban areas.

(iv) To increase the wage earning capacity of artisans and contribute to increase in the growth rate of rural and urban employment.

Eligibility Conditions of Beneficiaries :
(1) Any individual, above 18 years of age
(2) There will be no income ceiling for assistance for setting up projects under PMEGP.
(3) For setting up of project costing above Rs.10 lakh in the manufacturing sector and above Rs. 5 lakh in the business /service sector, the beneficiaries should possess at least VIII standard pass educational qualification.
(4) Assistance under the Scheme is available only for new projects sanctioned specifically under the PMEGP.
(5) Self Help Groups (including those belonging to BPL provided that they have not availed benefits under any other Scheme) are also eligible for assistance under PMEGP.
(6) Institutions registered under Societies Registration Act,1860;
(7) Production Co-operative Societies, and Charitable Trusts.
(8) Existing Units (under PMRY, REGP or any other scheme of Government of India or State Government) and the units that have already availed Government Subsidy under any other scheme of Government of India or State Government are not eligible.

Online Submission Guideline :
1. You can apply on-line for a fresh application (if you have never submitted the application earlier or your earlier application was rejected by the sponsoring agency)

2. Please take a print out of the blank format and carefully go through the same before starting filling the application on-line.

3. All fields marks with (*) are mandatory. Date fields are to be filled in the Format – dd-mm-yyyy Example – 01-01-2011

4. Through this site you can submit your application on-line from anywhere. While on-line submission, the system will ask you whether you are going for final submission of your application form. If you click on ‘OK’ then you will not be able to make any further. modifications.

5. On Final Submission of the application form, a unique application Id will be generated in respect of your application which may be noted down for all further correspondence in the matter. you can take a print out of the same. (If you are not able to print the application form then and there for any reason, you must note down the application Id . With the help of this application Id and date of birth you can re-print the application form later before last date mentioned on final submission of the application form.

6. Before submission of your application on-line, please read the Guidelines carefully, particularly regarding instructions to fill Application Form. This will help you to know the information and documents required for filling the application. Apply on-line only if you are sure that you will be able to produce all the necessary documents within the stipulated time.

7. After Submission of application you can visit the sponsoring office mentioned in your on-line application form within 15 days to submit the printed application form along supporting documents or can send the same by Courier/Post.

8. If for any reason you are late in producing the application/document details in-time, your application will not be entertained and it will be automatically rejected.
