Applications on plain paper are invited from citizens of India for preparation of a panel for appointment as Members in the Consumer Disputes Redressal Forums (District Forum) in different Districts of West Bengal in terms of section 10 of C.P. Act., 1986 and Rules framed there under. The panel will remain valid for a period of one year from the date of preparation. The vacancies are hereunder :

Qualification :
The applicant should,
i) not be less than thirty-five years of age and preferably not more than sixty-three years of age as on date of advertisement;
ii) possess a bachelor’s degree from a recognized university;
iii) be persons of ability, integrity and standing and have adequate knowledge and experience of at least ten years in dealing with problems relating to economics, law, commerce, accountancy, industry, public affairs or administration.

Disqualification :
The applicant shall be disqualified for appointment as a member, if he
i) has been convicted and sentenced to imprisonment for an offence which, in the opinion of the State Government involves moral turpitude; or
ii) is an undischarged insolvent, or
iii) is of unsound mind and stands so declared by a competent court, or
iv) has been removed or dismissed from service of the Government or a body corporate owned or controlled by the Government
v) has, in the opinion of the State Government such financial or other interest as is likely to affect prejudicially the discharge by him of his functions as a member.

Terms and conditions:-
i) The appointment is subject to submission of an undertaking by the candidate that he / she does not and will not have any such financial or other interest as are likely to affect prejudicially his / her functions as Member of the Forum.
ii) The job is transferable throughout West Bengal.
iii) The Member shall receive `25,000/- per month as consolidated honorarium & `3,000/- car allowance and the conditions of service will be in terms of the West Bengal Service Rules for Group – A Officer.
iv) The Member of a district forum shall hold office for a term of 5 (five) years or up to the age of 65 (sixty five) years whichever is earlier.

Application alongwith attested photocopies of supporting documents regarding age, education and experience should be sent / submitted to Secretary, Govt. of West Bengal, Consumer Affairs Department, 11A, Mirza Ghalib Street, Kolkata-700087, within two (2) months from the date of publication of the advertisement. The envelope containing the duly filled in application alongwith duly authenticated photograph and testimonials should be superscribed “Application for the post of Member, District Forum”.

Application without duly authenticated photograph and testimonials would be treated as cancelled.
