SBI Youth For India Fellowship 2014 :
SBI Youth for India is a fellowship programme initiated, funded and managed by the State Bank of India in partnership with reputed NGOs. It provides a framework for India’s best young minds to join hands with rural communities, empathise with their struggles and connect with their aspirations.

The Programme seeks to help India secure an equitable and sustainable growth path by :
** Providing educated Indian youth with an opportunity to touch lives and create positive change at the grass root level in rural India.
** Providing NGOs working on development projects in rural India with educated manpower whose skill sets can be used to catalyze rural development.
** Promoting a forum for the Programme alumni to share ideas and contribute to rural development throughout their professional life.

Eligibility :
SBI Youth for India is a fellowship programme funded and managed by the State Bank of India. It is meant for highly motivated, outstanding young professionals and fresh graduates between the ages of 21-32 as on 1st September 2014. Applicants must be Indian citizens and at least Graduates, at the time of applying for the Programme.

Shortlisted candidates to be invited for a personal interview.

August 2nd, 2014 :
Candidates selected to be Programme Fellows will be intimated.

Duration :
The programme will be for duration of one year comprising of two batches. The first batch will join in September 2014 and the second batch in November 2014. It is the full time programme and the fellows will be required to stay near the project site in rural locations. The staff of the partner NGO will assist the fellows in finding suitable accommodation.

Programme Structure :
Training :
You will go through a carefully designed orientation and training programme to sensitize you to the rural ethos, introduce you to rural project management techniques and equip you to handle the challenges of working on rural development projects. The training will include classroom sessions with guest speakers as well as field visits.

Some of the topics that will be covered are :
** Leadership and team building skills
** Project Design & Management
** Need Assessment
** Questionnaire Design
** Impact Analysis
** Writing case studies
** Documentation techniques

Project Work :
** You will be assigned a project in accordance with your interest/skill sets and the requirements of the partner NGO.
** For the entire duration of the project, you will be provided with a mentor by the partner NGO who will provide guidance and help you to successfully address the challenges you may face.
** In consultation with your mentor, you will need to define the outcome with milestones that you seek to achieve at the end of the project, and work towards achieving it.

Impact Assessment :
At the end of the programme, you will need to undertake an impact assessment study and document the successes and learning from the project.

Publication :
As a programme Fellow, you will be guided to prepare quality articles which could help you publish your findings from the project through papers/articles in journals and print media.

Fellowship Support :
As part of the Fellowship, SBI will provide a monthly allowance of Rs. 14000 during the course of the programme, adequate to meet living expenses. In addition, to & fro travel costs of the Fellows from his/her place of residence to the project site as well as for training programmes will be paid by the Bank. Medical cover will also be provided.

After completion of the Programme, you can if you choose, return to the mainstream and leverage the insight that you would have gained about rural India to influence perceptions and policy and to develop products and services suited to rural markets. As the fellowship opens up a variety of opportunities, some of our Fellows have chosen to continue in the development sector, to become social entrepreneurs, pursue academics and other fellowships like the PMRDF.
