Social Security Scheme :
** There are several lakhs of Non Resident Tamils all over the world. Majority of them are employed in the Gulf and South East Asian countries . While the bread winner toils abroad to earn money, unexpected and unfortunate events like accident met
** with or disease contracted by the bread winner on the foreign soil will be a great blow to his family. Unexpected expenses for hospitalised treatment of injury caused due to accident or major ailment suffered by the members of the family of the Non Resident, either residing with him or in India will leave the household in a no better position. In order to alleviate these problems and provide adequate financial support to the family, Government of Tamilnadu has introduced a Social Security Scheme for
** Non Resident Tamils to be implemented by Overseas Manpower Corporation (A Government of Tamilnadu Undertaking) in association with The New India Assurance Co Ltd.. (A Government of India Undertaking)

Joining The Scheme :
** It is not necessary that the non resident himself should submit the application and remit the premium. Spouse or parents (in respect of unmarried non residents) in India may submit the application on behalf of the person abroad and remit the premium.
** Benefits under the scheme are payable in Indian Rupee only.
** The proposal form appearing on the following pages can be download and used.
** The proposal form duly filled in all respects should be sent to Overseas Manpower Corporation Ltd, 48, Dr.Muthulakshmi Salai, LB Road, Adayar, Chennai 600 020, India.
** Along with the proposal form, a cheque or Demand Draft drawn in favour of ‘The New India Assurance Co Ltd’ payable at Chennai for an amount calculated at the rates indicated in the proposal form should be sent, towards payment of premium.

Benefits Offered :
** Against one time payment of premium, coverage is given for five years.
** Overall benefits available under the scheme is upto Rs.8 lakhs or Rs.13 lakhs as follows
** Death due to accident – Rs.5 lakhs or Rs.10 lakhs.
** Marriage grant for two unmarried daughters – Rs.50,000/- each
** Education grant for two children – Rs.50,000/- each
** Transportation of body including airfare for escort – upto Rs.50,000/- (This benefit is available even in case of death due to illness)
** To and fro airfare to visit home town to attend the last rites in the event of death of spouse or any of the children
** due to accident in India – upto Rs.50,000/-(Once during the period of 5 years)
** Permanent total disability or loss of sight of both eyes or loss of use of both arms or both legs or any two of these organs-Rs.5 lakhs or Rs.10 lakhs
** Expenses including airfare of an escort in the event of accident or sickness which necessitates shifting of the Non Resident to India for treatment or otherwise – upto Rs.50,000/-
** Medical benefits for Non Residents and their families.

Salient Features Of The Scheme Accident Insurance (AI) :
** Any person, below the age of 70 employed abroad can join the scheme
** Spouse and children in India or abroad can also be enrolled in the scheme. (Children to be between three months and 25 years unmarried/unemployed)
** One-time premium guarantees protection for five years continuously.
** Accidents occurring anywhere in the world leading to death, permanent total disability or loss of sight of both eyes or loss of use of arms or legs are covered upto Rs.5,00,000 under AI-I and Rs.10,00,000 under AI-II.
** Adequate coverage, ie 50% of the sum insured is given for loss of sight of one eye or loss of use of one limb, due to accident.
** In the event of death consequent upon illness or accident abroad, expenses incurred for repatriation of body to India including air fare of an accompanying person and incidental expense upto Rs.50,000/- are payable over and above the amount indicated above.
** In the event of an accident to the insured person which results in a valid claim under this scheme, if the person is taken to India for treatment or otherwise airfare of the injured and accompanying person subject to the overall limit of Rs.50,000/- is payable under the scheme .
** The above benefits are available for each person joining the scheme.
** In the event of accidental death of the person employed abroad-
** Education grant of Rs.50,000/- each to two children below 25 years as on date of accident , for pursuing studies; and Marriage grant of Rs.50,000/- each to two unmarried daughters-are payable in addition to the benefits indicated above.
** Overall benefits available under the scheme for Rs. 5,00,000 is upto Rs. 8,00,000 and Rs.10,00,000 is upto Rs.13,00,000/-
** Cover is available for 24 hours a day throughout the world, irrespective of whether the non-resident is on leave or has relinquished his job abroad.
** Benefits under the scheme are available in addition to other insurance covers, if any.
** Duly filled-in claim form along with supporting documents, may be submitted at the earliest, following which the claim would be disposed of within 7 days.
** A Non Resident can join the scheme for Rs. 5,00,000 (AI-I) at a one-time premium of Rs. 2490/- and that for Rs.10,00,000 (AI-II) at Rs. 4525/-
** Accidents while engaged in criminal acts, suicide or attempt thereof, or while under the influence of intoxicants or drugs & arising out of war or warlike operations are not covered under the scheme.

Family Health Insurance (FI) :
** The scheme provides for reimbursement of hospitalization expenses incurred in India following accident or illness
** Members of family, in India or abroad, including parents below the age of 70 can join the scheme along with the Non Resident.
** One-time Premium guarantees protection for five years continuously.
** Schemes for Rs.1,00,000 (FI-I) and Rs.2,00,000/- (FI-II) are available.
** Hospitalization expenses upto Rs.1,00,000/- or Rs.2,00,000/- can be reimbursed during the period of 5 years either jointly or singly by members of the family i.e. there is no ceiling on expenses per person or the number of claims that can be lodged during this period.
** In the event of the non resident suffering from major ailments of heart, kidneys, brain or liver, cancer or grievous injuries following an accident, airfare to India (one way) to undergo hospitalized treatment is also payable subject to the limit of the sum insured.
** Prior medical check-up is not required. Declaration, by proposer, on the status of health of the members is sufficient.
** In case of hospitalization of a member, immediate intimation of claim to the servicing office of the company is required. The claim form (issued by the Insurance company) duly filled-in and signed together with medical reports, discharge card, prescriptions, bills and receipts are to be submitted at the Insurance company within 30 days of discharge from hospital.
** Expenses incurred in connection with treatment of sinusitis, piles, cataract, hernia, hysterectomy etc., (indicated on policy) is not payable during the first year.
** Expenses incurred on hospitalization during the first 30 days of joining the scheme are not payable. However expenses incurred for treatment of accidental injuries are payable even during this period.
** Illnesses existing at inception of cover as well as pre-existing illnesses are to be declared in the proposal form. No reimbursement would be available for expenses incurred on treatment of such illnesses.
** A family comprising husband, wife and two children (at least 3 months old / unmarried daughters and unemployed sons below 25 years) can avail of the benefit of Rs.1,00,000/- at a one- time premium of Rs.2500 and that of Rs.2,00,000 at Rs.4875/-.

Instructions :
Accident Insurance (AI) :
** If more than one person of a family is covered in one proposal form , 10% discount of premium of all persons is offered.
** In case both Non Resident and spouse are employed abroad, they can avail of the benefits for identical amount (Rs.5,00,000/-or Rs.10,00,000/-). If only one is employed abroad, the other can be covered upto 50% of the amount opted by the employed person. Children would be covered upto 25% of the amount opted by the employed person.
** The Non Resident and members of the family have to be covered under the same scheme. One can not join AI-I and the other AI-II.
** The Non Resident should be compulsorily covered under one of the schemes of Accident Insurance (AI-I or AI-II) to enable him alone, or along with family, to join ‘Family Health Insurance’
** The Non Resident joining ‘Accident Insurance’ can include members of family (along with self) under Family Health Insurance Scheme, i.e., a Non Resident alone can join ‘Accident Insurance’. However, the members of the family can be covered under Family Health Insurance scheme, only if the Non Resident joins both the schemes i.e., Accident Insurance and Family Health Insurance Schemes.

Family Health Insurance (FI) :
** There is no discount for covering more than one person under this scheme.
** Parents below 70 years, can join the scheme, provided the immediate family (Spouse and Children) of the Non Resident is also covered. Unmarried Non Residents can cover dependent parents along with self.
** More than two children as indicated above, can be covered under the scheme.
** The Non Resident and members of the family have to be covered under the same scheme. One can not join FI-I and the other FI-II.
** The Non Resident should be compulsorily covered under Accident Insurance to enable him/her and members of the family to join the Family Health Insurance scheme i.e., the Non Resident should be covered under both the schemes to enable him to include his family under ‘Family Health Insurance Scheme’. Date of Birth, Age and details of existing illness and those contracted on earlier occasions of all the persons desirous of joining the scheme should be clearly indicated in the proposal form.
