MICA- WCD Case Competition on Gender Inclusivity For Professionals, Academics and Students 2014:
** MICA and Gender Resource Centre (GRC) of Women and Child Department, Government of Gujarat (WCD) announce MICA-WCD case writing competition on Gender Inclusivity- 2014.
** This is an opportunity for case-writers to showcase the successful efforts of an organization (a government department, public/private enterprise, academic institution, non-governmental organization (NGO) or a hospital) towards promoting gender inclusivity and harassment free work environment for women. It will also provide them a forum to share an individual’s, a group’s or an organization’s ways for prevention, prohibition and redressal of complaints of gender discrimination/sexual harassment.
** The cases are invited in three categories : 1) postgraduate/doctoral students, 2) academics and professionals and 3) An individual woman employee of any organization, who has combated sexual harassment in any form.

Awards :
Top two cases from each of the three categories i.e. students; academicians/ professionals as well as individual woman employee of any organization, who has combated sexual harassment in any form, will be awarded with cash prize of Rs. 12000 and Rs. 8000. Top fifteen entries (including six award winning entries) will be published in the form of a book.

Guidelines For Submission :
** The case developed should be based on real life organizational situation.
** An entry can have maximum two authors.
** Four documents need to be submitted : a) case synopsis, b) the case, c) case release form from the organization on which the case has been written and d) copyright form.
** Case synopsis should be of 1 page (1500-2000 words maximum). It must include the objective/s and a brief description of the case.
** The length of the case should be 10-15 pages (maximum), including exhibits and references.
** Spelling and grammar check is compulsory. Typographical errors are unacceptable.
** Use British spellings.

Font size and style :
** Use 14-size Times New Roman font, capitals for the case title
** Use 12-size Times New Roman, bold, underlined for main headings
** Use 12-size Times New Roman, bold for subheadings
** Use 12-size Times New Roman with single spacing for body text
** Use 8.5-size Times New Roman, for footnotes
** Use 10-size Times New Roman for exhibits

Tense :
Case should be written in the past tense as the events have already occurred. Background notes on the organization or people may be written in the present tense, where appropriate.

Voice :
As far as possible, use the active voice. Refrain from using passive voice, unless absolutely essential.

Exhibits :
** Refer to all additional presentations at the end of the case as “Exhibits.” Do not use alternative words like “annexure,” “appendix,” etc.
** Number the exhibits in the sequence as they appear in the text, when referring to an exhibit in the text of the case; insert the words “(see Exhibit 1, 2, 3…)” at the appropriate place.
** Quote the source for each exhibit. Indicate whether the exhibit is an original document or a creation of the author using data from an original document.
** Exhibits should be of a quality that is suitable for reproduction. Spreadsheets and tables should be inserted into the document as editable objects, not as images, in case further editing is required

Copyright :
Case-studies submitted to the competition should not have been published before in their current or substantially similar form, or be under consideration for publication with any other publishers. Please see originality guidelines mentioned below for details. Guidelines assist author/s in understanding acceptable and unacceptable practices and are specifically aimed at promoting and protecting authors’ work.

The following types of breach of copyright should be avoided :
a. Verbatim copying of any text from any other person’s work without acknowledgment, references or the use of quotation marks.
b. Improper paraphrasing of another person’s work is where more than one sentence within a paragraph or section of text has been changed or sentences have been rearranged without appropriate acknowledgment and approval.
c. Re-use of elements of another person’s work, for example a figure, table or paragraph without acknowledgement, references or the use of quotation marks.

Note :
** It is required that all authors sign a copyright form that clearly states that their submitted work has not been published before.
** References to other studies that are quoted in your case-study must be inserted as a footnote. All references should be carefully checked for completeness, accuracy and consistency.

Permissions :
Authors should obtain the necessary written permission in advance from organization on which case has been written for
a. Use of that organization’s information
b. Use of that organization’s logo, graphics, name/s of employees or any such other details.

Criteria for Evaluation :
The jury will evaluate cases based on the following criteria

1. Case Content :
** The case should address a rich and current managerial issue or concern.
** The case should contain themes that will afford a rich discussion.
** The case should provide a historical perspective to the issue at hand, including pertinent information about the background of the concerned individual(s) and the organization.
** The case should present a clear decision focus faced by the decision making authority/authorities.

2. Presentation style :
Style of writing : The case should be well-written. An interesting narrative must emerge as one reads the case.
Clarity and Presentation of data : The case should provide readers with an appropriate amount of useful information and data to help them make decisions.
** The case must adhere to the Guidelines for submission

Note :
1. Equal importance will be given to the case content and presentation style.
2. The copyright of the winning cases and of the selected cases for publication will be that of MICA-WCD
3. The copyright of the remaining cases will remain with the authors
4. Jury’s decision will be final & binding and no representations, whatsoever, will be entertained

Important dates :
** June 30th, 2014- Submission of intent of sending your entry for the competition.
** July 30th, 2014-Submission of the case.
** September 30th, 2014- Announcement of results
** Awards will be distributed at a function, the date of which will be announced later
