ADMISSION TO Ph.D. PROGRAMMES
2014-15

ABOUT NSIT :
Established in 1983 as Delhi Institute of Technology (renamed as Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology in 1997) with an objective of meeting growing demand for manpower in the emerging areas of Engineering and Technology.

An autonomous Institute fully funded by the Govt. of NCT of Delhi.

Affiliated to the University of Delhi for UG, PG & Ph.D. programs.

Eligibility Criteria :
i) Master’s degree in Engineering/Technology in the relevant discipline (ECE, COE, ICE, MPAE, IT) Securing 70% or more marks in aggregate and Masters Degree in Science or Equivalent in relevant area of Applied Sciences & Bio-Technology in accordance with Ordinance VI-B, University of Delhi (displayed on Institute website) securing 70% or more marks in aggregate.
ii) The candidates possessing Master degree with 60% or more marks who are eligible for Ph.D. degree as per ordinance VI B of University of Delhi may also apply for admission for Ph.D. degree but they will be admitted without scholarship and they will be required to comply with the other formalities of ordinance VI B (displayed on Institute website) will be selected through a written test followed by Power Point Presentation and Interview.

Procedure For Admission :
1 A written test will be organized on department level (Irrespective of with/without fellowship) which will have multiple choice questions of one hour duration. The selection of the short listed candidates after written test shall be made by the selection committee of the respective department. The final selection will be made on the basis of the performance of the candidate in written test, power point presentation (7 to 10 minutes on any area of his/her interest preferably research area) and Interview. Interviews will be held in July – Aug. 2014.
2 Candidates selected for admission to the Ph.D. Programme will have to subsequently apply to the University of Delhi for Ph.D registration as per University Rules and will have to complete the course work as per the ordinance VI B of University of Delhi.
3 Candidate appearing in the qualifying exams must ensure that their final results (with requisite marks) are declared before the date of Interview (probably in July-Aug 2014) otherwise they will not be allowed to appear before the selection board.
4 Selected candidates shall be required to deposit institute fee and other charges immediately at the time of registration for which he/she will be intimated before the date of registration well-before-the time. The amount payable by him/her will be in DD/cash as per rule. Limited hostel accommodation is available which will be provided to students subject to availability.
5 No TA/DA will be admissible to the applicants called for written Test/Interview.

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED :
AT THE TIME OF WRITTEN TEST/INTERVIEW :
1. Printout of application form duly signed by the candidate along with a passport size photograph.
2· Original receipt of application fee of Rs. 1000/- paid by the candidate and its photocopy.
3· Identity Proof(Passport/Aadhar card/Driving licence/Voter ID/ PAN card)
4· Original and self attested copy of GATE Score (if applicable).
5· Original and self attested copy of both Mark sheet and Degree of qualifying examination (M.E./M.Tech./M.Sc.).
6· Original and self attested copy of class 10th certificate/ Mark-sheet in support of Date of Birth.
7· Proof of CGPA/FGPA conversion to Percentage (if applicable).
8· Original copy of Medical fitness certificate for all.
9· If employed earlier relieving certificate of the employer.

AT THE TIME OF ADMISSION :
1 Demand Draft/ Banker’s Cheque of requisite admission fee in favour of Director, NSIT, New Delhi payable at Delhi.
2 Original receipt of application fee of Rs. 1000/- paid by the candidate.
3 Identity Proof(Passport/Aadhar card/Driving licence/Voter ID/ PAN card)
4 Original and self attested copy of GATE Score (if applicable).
5 Original and self attested copy of both Mark-Sheet and Degree of qualifying examination(M.E./M.Tech./M.Sc.).
6 Printout of application form duly signed.
7 If employed earlier relieving certificate of the employer.

How to Apply:
Application process for Ph.D Admission at NSIT for session 2014-15 will be online. Candidates willing to apply for admission in various Ph.D. Courses at NSIT can visit NSIT Admission website nsit.nic.in. Online application process will start from May 26, 2014.

Complete online application process can be summarized as follows;
1 Visit nsit.nic.in , register and fill application form and create password.
2 Note down registration number generated by the system.
3 Login to your account using registration number and password, edit your application for any changes.
4 Registration fee can be deposited through on line.
5 Confirm the application, and take printout of the application form
6 Download Medical fitness certificate format from the website
7 In case of any problem contact the Help Desk.
8 If Shortlisted, bring complete application form along with a passport size photograph and all required certificates (original and a set of attested photocopy) to NSIT on the dates of Written test/Interview.
9 If offered admission, report at Academic PG section (Room No. 014, Administrative Block) along with all your original certificates and other documents and demand draft of fee.

Important Dates :
1. Opening of Window for filling the Application Form online and fee deposit. : 26.05.2014 (12.30 p.m.) to 06.06.2014 (Midnight)
2. Display of List of shortlisted candidates for written test/interview on Institute Website & nic website. : Between 30.06.2014 to 31.7.2014.
3. Written Test and Interview for each deptt as per availability of Selection Committee members. : Between 07.07.14 to 14.08.2014 on wards.
4. Display of List of selected candidates on Institute Website and Notice Board after the approval of competent authority. : Between 20.07.2014 to 20.08.2014 onwards.
5. Date of Fees deposit (within one month from the issue of letter for admission. : After the issue of admission letter.
