IIST B.Tech Admissions – 2014 :
IIST offers Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) programmes in three branches: Aerospace Engineering, Avionics and Physical Sciences.

ELIGIBILITY FOR B.TECH. ADMISSION :
Candidates must make sure that they satisfy ALL the eligibility criteria described below for applying for admission to B.Tech Programmes in IIST.

Citizenship : Only Indian citizens are eligible to apply for admission in IIST.

Date of Birth :
Candidates belonging to General category (GEN) and Other Backward Classes (OBC) categories must have been born on or after October 1, 1989. Candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST) and Persons with Disabilities (PD) categories must have born on or after October 1, 1984.

The date of birth as recorded in the high school/first Board /or its equivalent will be accepted. If the certificate does not mention the date of birth, candidate must submit an authenticated document from competent authority indicating the date of birth at the time of Counselling.

Qualifying Examination : (10+2 or Equivalent)
Candidates seeking admission to IIST should have passed their Qualifying Examination, with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as subjects of the curriculum.

Candidates belonging to GEN and OBC categories must secure an aggregate of at least 70% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM) in the qualifying examination and those belonging to SC/ST/PD should have an aggregate of at least 60% marks in PCM subjects in the qualifying examination.

The qualifying examination should be any of the following:
(i) The final examination of the 10+2 system, conducted by any recognized Central/State Board, such as Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi; Council for Indian School Certificate Examination (ISCE), New Delhi, etc.
(ii) Intermediate or two-year Pre-University examination conducted by a recognized Board/University.
(iii) Final examination of the two-year course of the Joint Services Wing of the National Defence Academy.
(iv) Vocational Higher Secondary Examination.
(v) Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Institute of Open Schooling with a minimum of five subjects.
(vi) Any Public School/Board/University examination in India or in any foreign country recognized as equivalent to the 10+2 system by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
(vii) General Certificate Education (GCE) examination (London / Cambridge / Sri Lanka) at the Advanced (A) level.
(viii) High School Certificate Examination of the Cambridge University or International Baccalaureate Diploma of the International Baccalaureate Office, Geneva.

In case the relevant qualifying examination is not a public examination, the candidate must have passed at least one public (Board or Pre-University) examination at an earlier level.

Male candidates in GEN and OBC-NCL Rs. 600/- (Six Hundred only)
Female candidates in GEN and OBC-NCL Rs. 300/- (Three Hundred only)
All SC, ST, PD candidates Rs.300/-(Three Hundred only)

Steps involved in applying for B.Tech Admissions 2014 :
Click on ONLINE REGISTRATION link available in the home page.

The following 5 Steps are involved in the submission of application for B.Tech Admissions 2014.
STEP 1:
Enter valid JEE MAIN – ROLL NUMBER, JEE ADVANCED – ROLL NUMBER ,DATE OF BIRTH and Click on ‘Proceed to Step 2’ button.

STEP 2:
Provide required information in Online Application Form. It is mandatory to choose any of the two designated banks (State Bank of India or Union Bank of India ) for examination fee remittance. Verify your details and confirm your registration.
For NRI Candidates: Choose ‘Other(only for NRI Canidates)’ option for examination fee remittance.

STEP 3:
Note the IIST Registration Number and print (A4 size paper:Landscape Orientation) your bank challan by clicking ‘Get Challan’ button. Use this challan to remit examination fee in any branch of the chosen bank in the next working day after the registration date.
For NRI Candidates: Print the NRI Payment Form. Remit examination fee through a Demand Draft drawn in favour of THE REGISTRAR, IIST payable at THIRUVANANTHAPURAM taken from any bank outside India. This is a special facility extended to INDIAN Nationals residing abroad. Any Demand Draft issued from BANK within INDIA will NOT BE ACCEPTABLE.

STEP 4:
Enter the Bank Transaction Details using Candidate Login link.

STEP 5:
Scan and upload the Institute’s Copy of challan using Candidate Login link.
For NRI Candidates: Upload the scanned image of the Demand Draft. Write your Name & Registration Number on the back side of the Demand Draft. Send the Demand Draft along with Institute Copy of “NRI Payment form” by POST to The Chairman, B.Tech Admissions 2014, Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology, Valiamala P.O., Thiruvananthapuram – 695 547, Kerala.
