Cochin Shipyard Limited, premier Shipyard in the country and a Mini Ratna Company of Government of India, invites applications for appointment in the following positions of workmen on Contract Basis;

1 Name of the post : Fireman (on Contract Basis)
No. of post : 10 posts
Age: Age as on 31 Jan 2014
Physical requirement: Physically fit with the following physical standards;
(a) Height without shoes – 165 cms (concession of 2.5 cm for ST)
(b) Chest (un-expanded) – 81.5 cms (chest on expansion – 85 cms)
(c) Weight- 50 Kgs (minimum)
Qualification:
(1) Pass in SSLC.
(2) (a) Minimum Four to Six months training in Fire Fighting from a State Fire Force or Public Sector Undertaking or a Government recognised course from a reputed institute OR
(b) Certificate in Nuclear Biological Chemical Defence and Damage Control (NBCD), including fire fighting on-board ships from Armed Forces/Recognised Institutions.
(3) Knowledge in Malayalam is desirable.
Experience: Minimum One year experience in fire fighting in State Fire Force or in a large Industrial Undertaking or in the Armed Forces or in PSUs or in Private Companies.
Job description: The duties include fire surveillance/ fire fighting activities in confined spaces of vessels under construction.
Remuneration: Consolidated pay of ` 14,000/- pm and compensation for extra hours of work limited to ` 4,200/- pm.

2.Name of the post : Project Assistant (Safety) (on Contract Basis)
No. of post : 10 posts
Age: Age as on 31 Jan 2014 shall not exceed 35 years
Qualification:
(1) Three year Full-time Diploma in any branch of Engineering from a State Board of Technical Education or equivalent qualifications in case of Exservicemen.
(2) (a) One year Diploma in Industrial Safety from Government / Recognised Institutions OR
(b) Certificate in Nuclear Biological Chemical Defence and Damage Control (NBCD) from Armed Forces/Recognised Institutions.
Experience: Minimum One year experience exclusively in the field of Safety in a Shipyard or Heavy Engineering Company.
Job description: The duties include safety inspections and related activities in confined spaces of vessels under construction.
Remuneration: Consolidated pay of ` 15,600/- pm and compensation for extra hours of work limited to ` 4,700/- pm.

Period of Contract: All posts above are temporary in nature. The contract shall be for one year initially and extendable on need basis, maximum for three years.

Method of Selection: Method of Selection is through Practical Test/Endurance test and Personal Interview to be held at Cochin Shipyard Limited, Kochi (Practical/Endurance Test-80 marks, Interview-20 marks).
